Công văn của Hội này nhắc lại chuyện mới đây, UBND tỉnh Quảng Bình đã cho phép tập đoàn FLC khảo sát thăm dò xây dựng tuyến cáp treo từ km37 đường Hồ Chí Minh nhánh Đông đến Hang Én, dài 5,2km.
Công văn nhắc lại, vườn quốc gia Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng được UNESCO hai lần vinh danh là di sản thiên nhiên thế giới về giá trị địa chất – địa mạo (2003) và đa dạng sinh học (2015).
Hiện nay Quảng Bình được ví như “Vương quốc hang động của thế giới”, với trên 300 hang động karst được phát hiện và khám phá.
Trong số đó Sơn Đoòng được công nhận lớn nhất thế giới, Hang Én lớn thứ 3 thế giới.
Cả hai đều nằm ở vùng lõi cần bảo vệ nghiêm ngặt của vườn quốc gia Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng, nơi có tới 2.744 loài thực vật và trên 1.000 loài động vật đang sinh sống.
Hội Cổ sinh – địa tầng Việt Nam cho rằng “việc xây dựng tuyến cáp treo vào vùng lõi của vườn quốc gia Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng với công suất hàng nghìn người/ngày (so với 600 người/năm vào Sơn Đoòng hiện nay) chắc chắn sẽ thu hút một lượng lớn du khách và mang lại hiệu quả kinh tế cao.
Tuy nhiên, tiếng ồn của động cơ, lượng rác thải sinh hoạt khó kiểm soát, cũng như những hành vi vô ý thức thường gặp ở số đông du khách đại trà thực sự là điều đáng lo ngại đối với môi trường, nơi có đa dạng sinh học cao như ở Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng.
Vì thế, từ 2014 đến nay, các dự án xây cáp treo vào vùng lõi vườn quốc gia Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng luôn bị các nhà khoa học và dư luận xã hội phản đối mạnh mẽ”.
Theo Hội Cổ sinh – Địa tầng Việt Nam, việc xây dựng tuyến cáp treo vào Hang Én về thực chất không khác mấy so với việc đưa cáp treo vào gần cửa động Sơn Đoòng vì Hang Én nằm trên cửa ngõ vào động Sơn Đoòng, chỉ cách cửa động này khoảng 2km.
Hang Én là nơi cư trú của hàng vạn con chim én, một điểm hội tụ đặc sắc nhất của loài chim này ở Việt Nam.
Tổ chức này cho rằng dù khai thác du lịch bằng cáp treo là phổ biến nhưng với những hang động lớn và lộng lẫy như Sơn Đoòng hay Hang Én thì không nên vì “tiềm ẩn nguy cơ phá hoại hệ sinh thái rất dễ bị tổn thương và các thành tạo hang động tinh tế”.
Do vậy, hội này khẳng định hình thức khai thác du lịch mạo hiểm, khám phá Hang Én và động Sơn Đoòng như hiện nay là phù hợp, mang lại hiệu quả kinh tế và ít tác hại nhất đến toàn hệ thống hang động này.
Nếu một khi bị tổn hại thì không chỉ Sơn Đoòng, Hang Én mà toàn ngành Du lịch Việt Nam sẽ mất đi vị thế trên bản đồ du lịch thế giới, vì thế cần phải bảo vệ hai di sản đặc biệt này.
